How to Train Your Dragon in 3D

This movie was an unexpected star. Great cast, including:

Jay Baruchel--"She's Out of My League"
Gerard Butler--"300"
Craig Ferguson--"Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson
America Ferrera--"Ugly Betty"
Jonah Hill--"Superbad"
Christopher Mintz-Plasse--"Superbad"
T.J. Miller--"She's Out of My League"
Kristen Wiig--"Saturday Night Light",  etc

It seems like you've made it as a star if you're in an animated kids movie. Stars such as Eddie Murphey, Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz have set the pave for showing how great of a star you have become if you get to be the voices of animated characters. It seems like it'd be an easy thing, but I would assume it's more difficult because they're doing this without interaction. In a room. Sometimes all alone, without ANY interaction with the other actors.

Plot: A hapless young viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely owner of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed.

The main character is well placed. Though, it is an off the beaten path of who most would expect them to choose for the role of an awkwardly skinny and uncomfortable guy. The kind of guy that makes awkward situations hilarious while still maintaining that awkward moment. So who I thought they would have, and probably did try, is Michael Cera from his most commonly know "Superbad" with Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

But, Jay Baruchel did a great job. I also thought it was cool how they didn't make Jonah Hill the fat kid, and instead they made Christpoher Mintz-Plasse that part. Gerard Butler did an awesome job, it was really funny to see his voice come out of a GIGANTIC viking, instead of the oiled up Spartan Warrior we all love :D.

The 3D was awesome as always. Craig approved of it since it was they used intel [such a dork, but I love him]

I definitely recommend this to anyone who's in the mood for a laugh, wants to see a great movie with awesome actors, has kids and doesn't want to watch any more Pooh, or whatever kids these days are watching? Bob the Builder? I don't know. You obviously don't need to be a kid to see it, or even have kids to see it. People didn't look at me weird, though they did give Craig a sympathetic look like "poor guy, she probably dragged him to see it". Oh well, he really did enjoy it, even if there was no actual dragging that took place :D

Hot Tub Time Machine

Synopsis (provided by movies[dot]com)

Disappointed at the way their lives have turned out, four longtime friends reunite at the ski resort where they used to party and find themselves transported back to the year 1986 by a magical jacuzzi. Adam (John Cusack), Lou (Rob Corddry), Nick (Craig Robinson), and Jacob (Clark Duke) have all seen better days; Adam's and Nick's love lives are in the dumps, Lou is clinging to his hard-partying past, and video-game addict Jacob can't even muster the courage to walk outside. A fun stay at the ski resort where the gang made some of their best memories seems like just the thing to cheer everyone up, but after a night of heavy drinking in the hot tub, the four friends wake up to find they're about to live through the '80s a second time. Determined not to make the same mistakes twice, Adam, Lou, Nick, and Jacob decide to take full advantage of the unique opportunity presented to them, and create the lives they've always wanted. Chevy Chase, Crispin Glover, and Lizzy Caplan co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

My Take:

this is a hilarious movie. You don't have to think, or be stoned to watch and enjoy it... though it may be more enjoyable with 1 of those (or so I hear). It does drop the "eff" bomb every 2 or 3 words, but you hardly notice after a while. Every actor does a fantastic job of delivery. In fact, some of the awkward parts is what makes it so great.

I think this should be what people compare hilarious movies to from  now on. I didn't watch all of the Hangover, but it wasn't as funny as I was led to believe.

Watch it in theaters, buy it, gift it, etc!!

Bride Wars

This movie was very girly. It was full of epic cat fights and best friends.
It was a cute story about two girlfriends that have a dream of getting married at the Plaza in June. They both get the date in June, but it happens to be the same date. They start a war, trying to get the other to change their date. They play harmless pranks that drives the other over the edge until they miss each other.

It does have a certain twist in the end, which is much better than the picture perfect end.

I hardly ever watch chick flicks, but I enjoyed this one. I give it a 3 1/2 stars!

Surfs Up

This is set up as a documentary of a penguin's journey to the big surfing
competition. He has to overcome some struggles in himself like overbearing
parental figures, chasing after your dream, and to make sure you're having fun.

It was definitely way different than I thought it would be. It was a little boring in a few parts, but a good one for kids to watch. I didn't notice too much--if at all--adult humor, unfortunately :(

I gave it 3 stars because it was a good concept and it was different from expectations, but it could have been cooler. It is directed towards kids, but, I like kids movies sometimes!

Quantum of Solace

This is the second in the new James Bond movies. And I love Daniel Craig. Not just because his last name is my honey's first name, but he's cool :)- He's a total bad ass and he plays it well. This one picks up hours after the first one, which is way different from the old ones I guess. Never seen them, or I don't remember them :).

He goes on a mission to find the killer of his love and he meets Camille, or Olga Kurylenko, and both of them are on a very personal mission.

They go all over the world and Camille is in with the right people. There's action, a little bit of romance and lots of awesome :)...

Mr. Woodcock

It was boring, not very funny, and kind of a waste of time.

It's about a kid who's bullied by the gym teacher. He writes a book later in life about how to get through bad situations in their past. He's brought back home from his busy life to receive an
 award from his hometown.

His mom is dating Mr. Woodcock and he feels like he's supposed to set it straight. After a series of events he splits the two up. Then he sees his mom sad afterwards and decides that if he makes her happy, then it might as well be okay.

The whole time you're thinking that Mr. Woodcock would recognize him and it will be a battle between them... but no, he never remember's him. But then again, it didn't really go in to the kind of abuse he had to suffer...  And it wasn't directed towards one kid...

***Twilight***

First things first... the movie is not the book.

The book and the movie are completely separate entities. See them separately, embrace them separately, and love them separately.

Besides some... awkward acting in some parts, I LOVED it.

My favorite characters in the movie are completely different than from the book. (Emphasizing on how separate the two are).

Book Favorites: Edward and Alice and Jasper

Movie Favorites: Charlie and Jessica.

Loved Charlie, he was great. I like him better in the movie than I did in the book. He always seemed a little creepy in the book. But in the movie, he's awkward, funny, and definitely not creepy.

Jessica's acting was superb. She played her role perfectly. Which says a lot about her in some ways. Even though it's acting, she plays a good sadistic female role.

Things I liked better than the book:
  1. There was an  attempt at a plot earlier than the last couple of chapters.
  2. Comedy
  3. Eric, he wasn't goofy/nerdy/creepy... he was a fun and outgoing Asian kid.
  4. Rosalie talked.
  5. Jasper... he had crazy eyes, and it was awesome.
Things I liked better in the book:
  1. How Bella found out about vampires
  2. Edward... Robert Pattinson is charming, but, I think he tried (and probably with direction from the director) a little too hard to be menacing and dangerous.
  3. Alice. I thought she was cute, but I wish I saw her more.

Favorite Scene: The baseball game... I grew a great appreciation for Jasper after that scene.
Least Favorite Scene: Beginning scene at the diner with "ButtCrack Santa"
